Purpose: Use this article to configure the Finance area of a Course Template.
The Finance tab defines reusable financial defaults for a Course Template, including pricing, financial configuration, and course-level settings that support future Events created from the template.
For the broader Course Template model and navigation across all tabs, see Understanding Course Templates.
In this article
What the Finance tab controls
The Finance tab defines reusable financial information for the Course Template. These settings help future Events begin with the correct financial defaults.
Use the Finance tab to manage course-level financial setup such as:
- default pricing information
- financial defaults inherited by future Events
- course-level finance settings used during Event creation
- standard financial behavior for repeated deliveries of the same course
Finance and Event delivery
Course Templates define reusable financial defaults. Events represent the actual scheduled delivery, where administrators can confirm or adjust finance details for that delivery.
Note
Changes made to Course Template finance settings affect future Events created from the template. Existing Events keep the financial setup that was already copied or configured for that Event.
Pricing and defaults
Use the Finance tab to configure the standard pricing or finance behavior for the course.
These settings are useful when the same course is delivered repeatedly and should usually begin from the same financial configuration.
Administrators may still update finance information on individual Events when a specific delivery requires different pricing or financial handling.
Template finance vs Event finance
- Course Template finance defines reusable defaults for future Events.
- Event finance defines the financial setup for one scheduled delivery.
If a finance setting should apply to future deliveries of the course, update the Course Template.
If a finance setting applies only to one scheduled delivery, update the Event instead.
When to update template finance
Administrators typically update the Finance tab when:
- standard course pricing changes
- course-level financial defaults need to be corrected
- a new version of the course requires different financial setup
- future Events should inherit updated finance settings
Best practices
- Define standard pricing and finance defaults before creating Events.
- Review Event finance after creating a new Event from the template.
- Use Course Template finance settings for reusable defaults.
- Use Event finance settings for delivery-specific exceptions.
- Review template finance periodically so future Events inherit current information.
