Potential Contacts Duplicate screen + Duplicate Contact process - suggested improvements
The PCD screen has a few flaws which I hope can be easily fixed.
It isn't clear why the list is sorted the way it is:
Each page can be sorted alphabetically in turn, but you cannot sort the entire list alphabetically to review all the As on one page etc. Resolving a duplicate means that the list shifts around, too - remove a duplicate from page one and the entire list doesn't shift up one to replace it, as would happen if deleting a row on Excel - the list instead morphs a bit. This makes it harder to keep a track of what has and has not been checked.
Because ADM is only looking for name and primary email address clashes, duplicates where the contact secondary email address matches a primary email address are not flagged.
Likewise, we have other fields which can indicate a duplicate (eg institute membership number, mobile number) - it would be great if we could expand the selection to look at other potential fields.
It would also be great if we could, upon checking a potential duplicate and verifying that they are not duplicate contacts, indicating that within the PCD screen. I have painstakingly checked all 535 potential duplicates but a) cannot clear the list as they're all genuine, and b) if the number increases, I cannot see what has been added to the list.
Finally, the summary on the top-right which indicates how many potential duplicates there are - if there *are* any email duplicates, you cannot click-through direct to a list of those contacts to resolve: you have to hunt through each page of the list and eyeball them.
I have gotten around some of these issues by running a report for all of our contacts and then working through the list in excel, but it would be great to be able to do it all within the UI.

Very much agree - it's also a job that we would normally let the sales team manage (since they 'own' the contacts) so being able to give them direct access would be good, but not the way it currently works.
Another slight annoyance - where the email addresses don't match, if you could end up with the primary email from one contact as the secondary email that remains, we wouldn't lose one or have to edit the contact before/after merging.
Edit: looking at this again today, it won't actually run in production. I think we have so many potential duplicates that it's falling over trying to gather them together.
