Common branding components
In practice, portal branding is configured using a defined set of visual elements and styling options within Administrate.
Images
Branding is primarily driven by the visual assets you provide. These typically include:
- Sign-in background – The image displayed on the portal login screen (unless SSO is used).
- Logos – Large and small logo variants used across portal screens.
- Course and Learning Path images – Displayed on content cards to help learners identify training.
- Favicon – The small icon displayed in the browser tab.
These assets are typically stored and managed in the Document Management System (DMS).
Colors
Branding allows configuration of colors used throughout the portal experience, including:
- text (light and dark variants)
- primary and secondary buttons
- main interface colors
When selecting colors, ensure sufficient contrast for accessibility. Tools such as WebAIM Contrast Checker can help validate readability.
Typography
Portal branding supports standard browser fonts as well as web fonts. Services such as Google Fonts provide a wide selection of supported options.
Styling considerations
Portal styling is centrally managed and intentionally structured, rather than allowing full custom CSS. This ensures consistency across portal experiences and supports maintainability as new features are introduced.
