Private events - add trainees that are not contacts
Completed
Problem: At the moment you can only add trainees to a private event if they are contacts of the account the event is for.
Some of our private accounts have tens of thousands of employees and we have/are training hundreds of them. This means that our accounts are being filled up with contacts that we have no contact with outside of delivering training to them.
This hides the actual contacts at the account, the people we speak to to arrange training events.
If a staff member leaves, and I need to find the contact at an account, it's impossible when there are 1,000+ contacts of the account.
Contacts of an account should, in my mind, be the people you speak to at an account, it should not include all the people you train there. If we want to link all the trainees to an account, we can set the parent account in their contact/account details.
By contrast, having booking contacts for unnamed trainees limited to contacts of the account is great and makes sense, as the booking contact must be someone you speak to at an account.
Secondly, we sometimes run events which have contacts from multiple accounts attending them, and now we have to setup multiple events when before we setup a private (IHT) event with the primary or parent organisation and booked all trainees onto that.
Proposed soluition: open up private events so that any contacts can book onto it, and not just contacts of the account, like it was in the old events system. If possible keep booking contacts for unnamed trainees limited to that account.

We deal with companies who have a learning and development team who place all the bookings and need the training to be associated with that account. But the trainees can be at many different locations and we have accounts set up for the different locations in order to find who we need quickly. To have everyone in the one account would be an absolute nightmare.

Not all of it is recorded here, but we've received quite a bit of feedback on this too, with valid reasons why you may include contacts from accounts that aren't the primary account of the private event. We have planned this now to loosen the restriction and allow students from other accounts.

Thanks Troy :)
Have noticed now that when booking unnamed trainees, booking contacts are open to the whole database not just contacts of the account the event is for - am I right that change was part of this?
If there's any possibility of having booking contacts/unnamed trainees limited to the account the event is for, but named trainees being open that would be great. If not, we'd much prefer it this way round and it's a big headache gone to have this done.
The reasoning for having booking contacts of unnamed trainees limited to accounts is that anyone who is a booking contact will be someone at that account that we speak to to make bookings, and that we therefore want to show up as a contact in the CRM. I can't imagine a situation where that would not be the case. For named trainees these are usually employees of the organisation and not people we'll ever speak to to arrange events and therefore don't want them showing as contacts in the CRM (we do training with big companies so if they did, we'd have thousands of contacts and that would make it impossible to find our actual contact if someone in our company left).
Appreciate it may not be possible to get the two different types of trainees working differently and we would much prefer both to be open than both to be closed so please take this as a thank you for getting this done and not a moan about how it is now, even if it reads as a moan! :)
