Locking Financials at month end

The ability to 'lock'  financials once the month end figures have been finalised. 

This would prevent the input in the future of anything that has the potential to alter that months figures.

I think this would be beneficial to all of your clients.

  We use the accounting function within Administrate and am pretty happy with it, but the inability to "close" previous periods is a major downside, as unecessary time has to be spent investigating back postings which can happen accidentally. Year end close would be particularly beneficial and time saving.

  I agree that this feature would be extremely beneficial and prevent errors being created by back posting.  This is quite a concern for me, especially as multiple users have the ability to change details from previous months.

  The plan for the financial platform is to integrate with full accounting platforms, starting with Xero what will assume this functionality.  We'll be testing with early adopter customers later this spring.

  This tool existed in the past, see: [redacted] and is actually a MUST for finance. It allows you to lock past periods for VAT returns and Year End Accounts. So I hope Xero will offer it, or it can be implemented afterwards. Thanks.
