Events: Ability to Add Tags

When I’m creating an Event I’d like to be able to add Tags. The main reason for this is to have more granularity when filtering/reporting on Events. I have tried using Tags on Course Templates but it wouldn’t work as we use the same Course Templates to create similar but slightly different Events.
