Create a Learning Path
Paths are the actual learning journeys you create. Once you open the Learning Paths screen, all available paths are displayed there.
To create a new path:
- Open the Learning Paths area.
- Click Create Learning Path.
- Enter a name for the path.
- Set whether the path is Public or Private.
- Add a description that explains what the path is for.
- Optionally select a Company if the path is associated with a specific account or business context.
- Save the path.
At that point you can begin adding objectives, pricing, and learner registrations.
Add objectives
Objectives are the individual requirements a learner must complete as part of the path.
To add a new objective:
- Open the path.
- Click Add Objective.
- Select the objective type.
- Complete the required fields.
- Save the objective.
Course objective
- Select Course as the type.
- Select the course template.
- Save the objective.
Event objective
- Select the event-based option from the objective dialog.
- Select the course template associated with the event.
- Enable automatic event registration if appropriate.
- Select the event you want to use.
- Save the objective.
External objective
- Select External as the type.
- Enter a name.
- Add a description explaining what the learner must complete.
- Optionally include hyperlinks to supporting materials or external systems.
- Save the objective.
Path objective
- Select Path as the type.
- Choose the existing path.
- Save the objective.
Add prices
If you use Learning Paths to package and sell bundles of training, add prices on the Financial tab.
When adding a price, define:
- Region
- Currency
- Price Level
- Amount
You can add multiple prices, but only one per Region-Currency-Price Level combination.
Activate the path
When you are ready to use the path for learner registrations, mark it as Active.
This indicates that the path is ready for operational use.
Register learners
Once the path is configured with the objectives and prices you need, you can register learners onto it.
Important: after the first learner is registered, you should treat the path structure carefully. Changing objectives later can affect existing learner progress.
To register a learner:
- Open the path.
- Click Add Learner.
- Select the contact. The contact must already exist in your CRM.
- Select the Region, Price Level, and Currency to use for the learner.
- You can also enter a Custom Price where needed.
- If you are selling the path, keep the selling option enabled and complete the pricing information.
- If you are not selling the path, clear the selling option and complete the registration.
Register learners onto an event from a course-based path
If you use a course objective, you still need to assign the learner to a specific event. This can be done by an administrator in the TMS, or by the learner if your portal experience supports self-registration for that objective.
To register a learner onto an event after adding them to the path:
- Open the Learners tab on the path.
- Open the learner.
- Select the course objective.
- Choose the event you want them registered onto.
The available events are typically filtered by the pricing and regional setup used for the learner. Use location filtering where available to find the right event more quickly.
Track learner progress
Once a learner has been added, you can track progress directly from the path.
- Open the Learners tab.
- Select the learner.
- Review completed and outstanding objectives.
Cancel a learner from a path
If a learner should no longer be part of a path, remove or cancel them from the learner list on that path.
Before doing so, consider:
- whether the learner is already registered onto related events
- whether any achievements or certificates have already been issued
- whether the learner’s cancellation should also affect related bookings
Use the cancellation process carefully so learner records remain accurate.
Use Learning Paths on bookings
Learning Paths can also be used in the broader booking workflow, especially when you are packaging a program for sale or coordinating access as part of a larger registration journey.
If you want to add a Learning Path to a Booking:
- Open the Booking.
- Scroll to the Interests section.
- Click Add Interest.
- Click Learning Path.
The available fields are:
- Location — filter by location of events within the Learning Path
- Start Date — filter by earliest event start date on the path
- Learning Path — choose from previously created Learning Paths
- Price — taken from Learning Path pricing
- Price (Override) — override the default path price if needed
- Quantity — number of learners to register on the path
If this is an event-based path, winning the Booking will register the learners onto the relevant events.
