SANDBOX EXERCISE PROCEDURES
Your Journey:
This is Step 3 of 5 setup tasks that will get you to Your 1st Event:

Your Tasks:
*The below follow on from previously completed learning objectives
- Configure category: Cooking
- Configure subcategory: Mexican Food
- Create achievement: Making Great Salsa
- Load course template: Making Great Salsa
Your Procedure:
Working in your sandbox environment, use the following procedures to configure background setting elements.
NOTES:
- Procedures follow the demonstration video exactly; if you get stuck, refer back to the video for visual support.

Task 9: add your category for the training content: Cooking
- Click the Control Panel cog in the upper right
- Click Course Categories under the Events header
- Scroll the the bottom of the page and click Add Category
- Type Cooking into the Name field and click the Create button

Task 10: configure your subcategory: Mexican Food
- Click the Add Subcategory button under the Cooking header
- Type Mexican Food into the Name field and click the Create button
- Click the new Cooking category block and drag it to the top of the screen
- Click the Save button in the upper right

Task 11: configure your achievement: Making Great Salsa
- Click the Control Panel cog
- Click the Achievements icon under the Events header
- Click Create Achievement type
- Type Making Great Salsa into the Name field
- Click the OK button to save

Task 12: load your course template: Making Great Salsa
- First we’ll add basic information for the course:
- Click the Events dropdown in the top left and select Course Templates from the dropdown that results
- Click the Create New Template button on the right
- Type Making Great Salsa into the Title field
- Type cook_01_salsa into the course code
- Scroll through the Category options and select Mexican food from the list
- Click the blue Save button in the upper right
- Next, we’ll add our approved instructor
- Click the Personnel tab
- Click the Add Approved Instructor button in the bottom right
- Check the selection box on the right side of the Instructors modal to select Tricia Yardling, then click the green confirm button
- Now we’ll define the most common schedule for this blended course:
- Click the Schedule tab at the top center
- First we’ll add basic information for the course:
NOTE: This is a blended course and so it has an LMS component and a classroom component
–LMS access is for one week before and after the classroom training
–The classroom includes two sessions from 9am to noon on Monday and Tuesday
- Click Blended under the Learning Mode header
- Type 7 into the Starts and Ends fields under the Self Paced (LMS) header
- Click into the When field on the Ends Line and change it to After Classroom End
- Click into the Default Session Start Time under the Classroom header and click to select 9:00 AM
- Click into the Default Session End Time and select 12:00 PM
- Uncheck all days except MON and TUE under the Including header
- Select Monday under the Start Day header
- Type 2 in the Number of Sessions field
- Click the Generate Sessions button in the bottom right
- Now we’ll add our pricing for events, which is 500 Canadian Dollars
- Click the Finance tab
- Click Add to the right of the Public Pricing header
- Click into the Region field and select Ontario
- Click into the Price Level field and select Normal
- Click into the Currency field and select CAD
- Click into the Amount field and type 500
- Click the blue OK button
- Finally, we’ll add our Achievement to the template - students successfully complete this course if they attend both sessions
- Click the Achievements tab
- Click the Edit button
- Under the Blended Events header, Click Enabled and type 0 into the Allowed Session Absences field
- Click the Add Achievement button
- Click into the Achievement Type field and select Making Great Salsa
- Click the blue Add Achievement button
- Click the Submit button in the upper right to save.
- Click the blue Publish Course button in the upper right.
Our course template is now created. You’ve successfully completed this training demonstration and can now:
