Your Journey:

This is Step 1 of 5 setup objectives that will get you to your 1st “Making Great Salsa” training event:

Your Tasks:

1. Configure currency: Canadian Dollar (CAD)
2. Configure tax: 5% Canadian VAT
3. Configure region: Ontario
4. Configure location: Toronto 
5. Configure default fill rate: 60%

Your Procedure:

Working in your sandbox environment, use the following procedures to configure background setting elements.

• NOTE: this follows the steps you just viewed in the demonstration video exactly; if you get stuck, refer back to the video for visual support.

1. Task one: configure your new currency
   1. Click the Control Panel cog in the upper right
   2. Click the Currencies icon under the Financials header
   3. Click Add
   4. Type the currency abbreviation into the currency code field: CAD
   5. Type the currency name into the name field: Canadian Dollars
   6. Click Save
      
      
2. Task two: configure your new tax type
   1. Click the Control Panel cog
   2. Click the Tax Type icon under the Financial header
   3. Click Add
   4. Type in the tax details for Canadian VAT:
      1. Name = Canadian VAT
      2. Rate = 5%
      3. Nominal Account = Public Course Income.

3. Task three: configure the region for the event; with our financial settings in place, we need to configure an “Ontario” region, as taxes differ here from other provinces in Canada

1. Click the control panel cog
2. Click the Regions, Locations, and Workplaces icon under the Settings header
3. Click Add Region
4. Identify the details for your Ontario Region:
   1. Code = ONT
   2. Region = Ontario
   3. Default Tax = 5% Canadian VAT
   4. Invoice Numbering = Company
   5. Company = The Secret Sauce
   6. Click Save
      
      

4. Task 4: configure the location for the training, which is Toronto; Mia’s company intends to offer training of this kind in other cities in Ontario 
   1. Click the Location tab.
   2. Click Create Location.
   3. Now we’ll add the location details:
      1. Name = Toronto
      2. Code = TOR
      3. Region = Ontario
      4. Default Tax = 5% Canadian VAT
      5. Time Zone = America/Toronto
      6. City / Town = Toronto
      7. Region / State = Ontario
      8. Country = Canada
   4. Click OK
      
      
5. Task 5: configure your default fill rate percentage, which is 60%, this means that Mia’s team will see issue warnings for any events that have yet to reach 60% of the maximum students allowed on the event.
   1. Click the Control Panel Cog
   2. Click Course Configuration icon under the Events header
   3. Replace the 50 there with 60
   4. Click the green Save button
